Hyperlinked Video Warning Message

I am having an odd problem with a single user in my company.  She does a lot of presentations in Power point and often links to videos that are stored locally in the same directory as the .ppt file.  When clicking on the hyperlink to the videos the following warning appears:

Opening C:........ file.mv

Some files can contain viruses or otherwise be harmful to your computer.

It is important to be certain that this file is from a trustworthy source.

Would you like to open this file?

I know about trusted locations and designated both the directory the .ppt file and the video reside in as a trusted location.  I also made My Documents and all sub-folders trusted locations but it does not work.  No matter where I put the video it does not work, even in the default trusted locations (Themes folder).

The user at the time was running Office 2007 so I upgraded her to 2010, but the problem remained.  I also tried the registry fix detailed in KB 925757 which did not work in both 2007 and 2010.  I have turned off all security related options in the trust center in Power Point and reset the IE settings to default.  Nothing I do seems work.  Is there any way to get rid of incessant popup warning?

You may refer the suggestion in the KB article below and check if it helps to resolve the issue.

Ensure to backup your registry and read the registry disclaimer in the article.

The user finally responded to my request to provide the files to me.  All of the videos are .wmv.  I tried it out on my Win7 64 bit machine running Office Pro Plus 2010 and had no problems.  I didn't even  have to add the directory to the trusted locations list.

The process she uses is this:

    In text box, highlight text

    Right click and select Hyperlink

Find the file and select Ok

If she embeds the video on the slide or sets the video to play as the action for object it plays no problem.

If the user is creating a hyperlink to the video make sure the presentation has been saved before testing the link.

How exactly does she link to these videos and what format are they in?

I have 2010 on XP and just tried two things:

Insert, Video and picked an AVI

    Hyperlinked to the same AVI

The two methods give different results when clicked in slideshow view; the former plays on the slide, the latter launches Windows Media Player to play the vid.  But both play w/o any NuisanceNatter from PowerPoint.

Assuming that .mv is literally what the user's working with in the way of filetypes, can she convert one to a different format (AVI, WMV) to see if that helps?

While the user was running Office 2007 I created the registry entry from that KB article.  It did not resolve the issue.  When I installed Office 2010 theDisableHyperlinkWarning registry subkey carried over to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Common and still did not have any effect.
