I searched for this Error code and found nothing on this forum.  Is there a way to recover from this?  Thanks!

This OneNote section file appears to be corrupted. OneNote may be able to repair the file. Avoid adding content to this corrupted section. (Error code: 0xE0000140)

You can check for a backup of your section. Go to File > Info > Open Backups on the right side.

Not that you would get more suggestions on this issue.

Simplest option would be to recreate these notebooks / sections, to check if that changes.

I still have this problem. Is there nothing Microsoft can do?

OneNote is next to useless now, this is bad after many years of collecting notes.

I have tried a major cleanup, erased all files in the cache at AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\14.0. Deleted all "Misplaced section".

When I then started OneNote I got several corrupted sections. Repeated deleting the cache and started again, now it looked OK. But the problem came back.

I have also noticed that when I copy the OneNote files (Documents\OneNote Notebooks) to another PC, several sections are flagged as 'corrupt' in OneNote on the other PC.

Even if I make sure that "Sync Status" says it is OK on this PC before I copy out.

I am testing a work-around. Not sure if it makes sense, but it has been OK for the last 2 weeks.

I have created a 'dummy' section, with only one page. When I start using OneNote I first write some rubbish here.

The idea is that the problem only happens when I start writing in a section with lots of content, after an idle period.

Like Odd Erik Paulsen, I get the same quite frequently and agree - it is very annoying! I constantly have to repair the section and delete the corrupted one.

Similar also, this only happens on one laptop and it is an HP Elitebook 8460p. Any advice?
