I searched for this Error code and found nothing on this forum.  Is there a way to recover from this?  Thanks!

This OneNote section file appears to be corrupted. OneNote may be able to repair the file. Avoid adding content to this corrupted section. (Error code: 0xE0000140)

You can check for a backup of your section. Go to File > Info > Open Backups on the right side.

There was a bug creating an incompatibility between Onenote 2010 and 2016.

There is a fix for the 2010 version. Is it up to date ?

Checking for a backup does not resolve the issue.

I carry my notebook on a memory stick and it is fine when I am at home (using a desktop and Onenote 2016) but whenever I am at work (laptop and Onenote 2010) it persists on telling me that the book is corrupted.

I am skeptical that this is the case since it works fine at home.  There are problems with other books; it seems that the books which are stored on a memory stick have problems and the ones on my work network are OK.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

I never did update the end result... Credant messes with OneNote caching. Do not store OneNote files on drives with Credant.

It turns out that Shared Drives work great. OneNote caches data for offline use, so it's not an issue when away from the office. I just moved all my files to network drives and have not had any problems since. I also undock, hibernate, etc with OneNote open and my files are fine.
