Secure https links suddenly stopped working.

I too am now one of the users where my previous working HTTPS links have stopped functioning.

I had the issue several months ago with HTTP links and I changed them over to HTTPS links and they worked until yesterday. Then the links didn't work, and I don't know if it was a "quirk" in the web site or in Excel.

I would appreciate any help in getting the hyperlinks to function again. I would also like to know how to petition Microsoft to support all HTTPS protocol sites.

My attempt at using a pdf on this board failed. So here's the wording of the error message:

An error occurred attempting to expand/users/macuser/library/caches/temporaryitems/16807 AutoUpdateInstaller.mpkg

A folder was specified when a file was required (Error #17530).

I checked my version of Excel and it was 14.0.0, so I attempted to download a current revision and got the following error:

Please let me know what's wrong with what I did.

First, let's establish which update level of Excel you are using. Look at the Excel menu and choose About Excel. You should have version 14.3.4. If you don't go to Excel's Help menu and launch the AutoUpdate utility by choosing Check for Updates on the Help menu.

If you have not already tested in 14.3.4, please do so and reply with the results.

    Hi Ashutosh:

When I use the spreadsheet which has the hyperlinks in it, I get a error, (Unable to open HTTPS xxx.  Cannot locate the internet server or proxy server.) All the hyperlinks were added by using the hyperlink command in Excel.

Otherwise the s/s works fine. As I said, I had an issue with the hyperlinks before (when they were entered the same way but with HTTP). I changed them to HTTPS, and for two months they were fine.

The full hyperlink for one of the cells is: https://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.pnf?chart=PDP,PHTADANRBR%5BPA%5D%5BD%5D%5BF1!3!!!2!20%5D&pref=G,

and all the links are to this website.

So to say the least, I am befuddled.

    Hi Rick,

You have not mentioned what happens when using hyperlinks.

Also it would be better to mention how the hyperlinks were added to this particular file.

Do get back to us with the necessary information, for us to be able to better assist you.
