Task 348 is not the predecessor to any subsequent task. Enter 348 in the predecessor field for the tasks that are dependent upon task 348. You must manually enter the predecessors (not dates) to have the project update automatically.
Dates not updating automatically in MS Project Std 2016
Hi,
I am encountering an issue with MS Project standard 2016.
After inserting a few extra rows (for additional tasks) from one of MS Project template, whenever I change duration / predecessor in one task, Project 2016 does not reflect the same into the subsequent tasks automatically.
I have to redo all the related tasks manually, i.e. delete the predecessor and retype the same manually. It then reflects the required change in the dates. Worst part is that I have to do it for all the subsequent tasks.
It is already on "Auto Calculate" date schedule. I think the newly inserted rows (tasks) are not link or group to the subsequent rows (tasks).
Please advise on the solution.
Thank you for your time and help.

2016-08-01T00:24:35+00:00 Thank you for the response Julie, the Calculate project after each edit setting is "On". Has this issue got to do with the fact that new rows were inserted (for additional tasks) in an existing Project sample template? It seems to me that they were not linked or attached to the subsequent tasks. By the way I have created new Header tasks as well within these new rows.

2016-08-01T01:50:10+00:00 Ah, thanks for the picture - it helps. I now understand that you are wanting Project to create predecessors and successors when you insert tasks. Choose File > Options, Schedule and ensure the options"Autolink inserted or moved tasks" is checked (enabled). It will create links (Finish to Start) when you insert tasks between tasks that are linked FS as long as there is not any lead or lag. Bear in mind, however, the "autolink" only works between FS tasks, not SS, FF, nor SF.
I hope that helps. You will still certainly want to review the automatic predecessors that are set.
