Agree with you ChristineKing3.....amazing this critical use case of having full permissions in  Word/Excel on Android devices to remove personal docs from the Word/Excel App remains unfixed for all these years.

I have tried uninstalling the Android Word/Excel apps and reinstalling and it did no good.   I have spent over 2 hours with Google tech support to resolve the Word/Excel permission issues and even they couldn't fix it.  They got so frustrated that they sent me a replacement Google Pixel phone!  (still didn't fix the problem).

Amazing Microsoft and Google haven fixed this Android/MSFT Permissions issue yet.

I find myself using Google docs and sheets more and more...guess that's what Google wants us Android phone users to do:)

Hope someone from Microsoft actually reads this message board and could chime in with a response from Microsoft on this bug fix with Android phones.

    Thanks

Well, Google has nothing to do with this (and changing your phone won't help as well).

This is completely on Microsoft's side.

And this is really strange that reinstalling MS Office applications didn't help you.

Changing the phone wasn't my idea, that's what Google support recommendation.... clearly didn't work.

Did deleting and reinstalling the Microsoft apps work for you in getting control of the Android permissions to delete Word/Excel personal files?

Oh, you mean this. I misunderstood you. I thought you were talking about deleting those files.

No, it doesn't help to get those "permissions". Nothing will (except for rooting your device, but not recommend it unless you know exactly why you need it).

I am so sick of BULLY MICROSOFTmaking once easy software and applications difficult at best but impossible more often.

For instance, for years I used Excel and Wordon my Samsung Android tablet and phone with zero issues or problems. Now and suddenly out of the dark MS placed a placard over both apps on the subject of privacy.  It would be fine if there were a way to do something, change something, correct something, FIX SOMETHING, ANYTHING! But no. There is no way to enter anything. Just this huge box that covers the apps disallowing use. I can't even delete the apps from my devices. I can "disable" them but they are still there taking up precious space. BULLY, BULLY BULLY.

Now don't get me going on the bully tactics MS is using for its Windows 10 operating system. I lack the time nor the patience.
