"VALUE" Error Issue

Hi people,

I would like to ask a question regarding the use of Microsoft Excel in Office 365.

Being the middle-man for this issue, a team from the Marketing Department encounters an issue where the value/number is not updated normally like it should be, instead it shows "VALUE" just like in the attachment.

At first, I open all the individual Excel files one-by-one and finally I open the main Excel file. I get 2 errors right after opening the last file (see attachment):

Strangely, only 1 person in the team can edit the Excel file normally meaning it shows an actual number or value after calculation. And that person can also save the file without any issue.

Any help is utterly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If you are using the modern experience, to check who have access to that file, please right-click the file>Details>Manage access. If you are using classic experience, please click the three points to open the Menu dialogue, and check the users the file is shared with.

I'm sorry, could you please explain it more detailed. What I did was I right-click the main Excel file and went to Properties. In the Details, there is no users in Shared With section. Those files I checked are located on my PC, not the Marketing users.

In the meanwhile, please provide more information for us to narrow down:

    1. Please confirm the differences between that specific user and the rest. (e.g. they are in different group, have different permissions)
    2. How do they share the files? By a link or give permission to the group?
    3. You mentioned you open several files, do you mean that workbook is connected to external data?
    4. Can you open that file by Excel Online?

I asked the Marketing user, he accesses those files from a pendrive. So perhaps the permissions should be the same among his team, correct?

I apologize for so little information.

As for the issues, you have described two issues. One is #Value! error and another one is Excel can't access specific file. Since you mentioned you are a middle-man for this issue, I'd like to confirm whether both the issues occur with all of the other users except that specific user?

In the meanwhile, please provide more information for us to narrow down:

    Hi,

please check your rights and permissions to xlsx source file. Most of the times this error is caused by xls cannot be accessed by a specific person.

How do I check them? And what do I have to do with the rights and permissions prior to opening all the Excel files?
