Split from this thread.

We're seeing the same issue (intermittent 'Document not saved' errors when saving Excel files to a network drive), though we're not using Defender ATP.

Our environment:

  • Trend Micro WFBSS, cloud-based
  • Windows 10 1703 with Office 365 ProPlus version 1708
Microsoft 365 and Office | Excel | For home | Windows

We're brand new to WFBS, so we're essentially just using the out of the box policy. I haven't had a chance to customise it to our environment yet. Where specifically can I find the executable scan option? Because I'm still learning the product, it might be easier if you suggest a couple of relevant features and I'll check to see how we have them configured. (That is, if that sounds helpful to you.)

Thanks Jim. I'll investigate and get back to you. Sorry for the delay in responding--I'm in Australia and yesterday was a public holiday.

    Hi Kevinkoski,

Please help us investigate if it's related to Office 365. If so we'll help you further. If not you can post in Windows category for dedicate assistance.

    Thanks,

    Jim

Dang, that's interesting. Same environment as us, but our issue happened when upgrading to 1709. Though maybe no users reported it, maybe the issue got worse for people, I can't say for sure.

Can you tell us more about what you have enabled for your WFBS account?

For example, we don't have the Applocker-esq feature enabled, the feature that scans executables when launched.

Well....though for our issue...We've already ruled out Trend though...hmmm

    Hi Kevinkoski,

We split your question to this new thread as the same issue may have different root cause. We would like to investigate if there's anything need to do with Office.

Firstly please check if the issue only happens to Excel client. You can try previous version of Excel, and some non-Office apps.

    • If it does relate to Excel, for example, the issue appears after an Office update, please provide the workable version for our reference.
    • If you can also confirm it is a Windows update issue, (For example, it happens to any version of Excel, and even other apps, or it only happens after an Windows update) please involve the Windows support team to fix it. You can post a new thread at our community
    • Windows category, like "Windows / Windows 10 / Windows update, recovery, & backup", the support engineers there will help you further.

    Thanks,

    Jim
