Check Document doesn't check grammar

With the new update, when I "Check Document" in word, it only checks spelling and not grammar.  It will not check grammar unless you have "check grammar as you type as an option".   I don't want to check grammar as I type, I just want to check it when I'm done.  I assumed - shame on me I guess - that "Check Document" would check both spelling and grammar.  How do I get it to check grammar without having the "check grammar as you type option on?"  Thanks

    Hi RenieFLG,

    Thanks for your update.

    1. According to your description, this issue happens with a new update, please provide your product name and version to us via this article.
    2. Here is an article for troubleshooting: The spelling and grammar checker isn't working as expected.
    3. File>Options>Proofing>Writing Style: Settings…>Reset All>OK>OK.

Make sure the Hide spelling errors in this document only and Hide grammar errors in this document only check box is cleared.

Try the steps above and see the result.

    Regards,

    Gloria

Typed the sentence, "Lets try this again for heavens sake" and got no grammar errors.

Can you not recreate the problem?

Is no one else having this issue?

Thank you, but in the meantime, users - especially office users are producing documents unaware that the grammar checker / spell checker and the "Check Document" are not working properly.  Not sure how you notify people, but this is not a minor issue so time should be of the essence.  Especially as it worked fine before the Editor function was redesigned and updated.  It is curious that Microsoft would put this update out - an update regarding such an important function for OFFICE workers - without beta testing it themselves first.  It seems like a very questionable practice.  It is concerning.  I apologize for venting, but this is very troubling.  I do thank you however for your help and for jumping on this issue.
