    Hi Gail,

The “Retrieve” is: When Access requests list items from a SharePoint list. Linking list to database will also ask Access to retrieve list items from SharePoint list.

That’s why I suspect this may also be the possible cause of the error message. Therefore, I suggest you try to change the registry with the steps in this article.

In the meantime, you can also create a new test list with 2 or 3 items to see if the issue is related to the specific list.  You can copy the database file to your local PC folder to check if the issue is related to the server environment.

    Thanks,

    Rena

I created a small list and was able to link & import  its "all items" view it into my existing access database.

I then copied & renamed my existing database to my c drive. I successfully imported my "all items" view of small list but was unable to import the "all items" view of the original problem list  "all items" view.

I am rather skeptical to try the registry fix. If I mess up I have no back up and no one here to help me!

    Hi Gail,

Thanks for the updates. Now we know that the issue only happens to this specific list. Before you try modifying the registry, you can try this step first to see the result:

File --> Options --> Current Database --> Caching Web Service and SharePoint tables … Uncheck the box next to “Use the cache format that is compatible with Microsoft Access 2010 and later”.

For the registry, the DataFetchTimeout should not exist by default. You should create it manually. If you are using 32-bit Access on 64-bit Windows, you should do the steps below. If you have any problem about this, you can post here to let me help you.

    Thanks,

    Rena
