Insert Comment option is missing from right-click menu

I am using Excel 2016 on Windows 10. Today, the "Insert comment" option disappeared from the right-click pop-up context menu. When I right-click on a cell with no comment, there is no option to add one. If I right-click on a cell with a comment, I can edit or delete the comment. On the Insert tab of the ribbon, the Comments section is grayed out. This problem is affecting all spreadsheets that I have tried.

I googled the problem and tried every solution offered but none of them worked. How can I add comments to cells again?

Thank you

I cannot see any option to insert a comment when I right click on a cell .. the option isn't even greyed out

This is frustrating - I have been inserting comments in my spreadsheets for years and it is such a useful tool.

Is it connected with the recent Windows 10 upgrade?

Please can the powers that be at Microsoft sort this out! Thank you

Me too. I have Excel 2016 and Comments on the right click menu has worked for years. Now I did a Windows update and the option has vanished. Please restore this option ASAP.

I googled the problem and tried every solution offered but none of them worked except using Shift + F2.   As I only need to use this function from August to February, I had not noticed this problem.  I assume it is a result of the latest upgrade.  I need to use this function very often and it is now very frustrating.

. How can I add comments to cells again?

    Thank you

My Comment function mysteriously returned in about three days after doing the latest Microsoft upgrade. I don’t know if my system did an additional update or what happened but Comments are back.

Where is the insert comment in the right-click context menu?  I've used that daily for decades for work.  I don't want to hit Shift-F2...Please bring it back!!
