Excel: If value in column X is same, then go to column Y and say if dates are diff or same (for both)

Hello.

I am struggling with the last part of this file.

Please help.

If the serial number in column D is the same, then go to column J and tell me if the dates are different.  If yes, I want in column R to be SAME or DIFFERENT for the serial numbers.

So....example: row 28 and 29 in column R, it would say in both DIFFERENT (in both rows, column R).

Any help? At least maybe guide me in the direction of function?

Thank you

    Hi Geo

Please try this formula in cell R4 =IF(AND(B4>1,J4<>J3),"DIFFERENT","SAME")

    Note:

    * As per your pictures your table is sorted by serial numbers, also you use helpers columns B and C

to identify if Item is repeated. So in the formula we use helper column B** Also since table is sorted first data row (in this case row 3) always be a 1 in helper column B so

that's the reason to leave empty cell R3.

*** So insert formula in cell R4 and drag down.

Hope this formula will help you

    Jeovany,

I used it. It looks great at first glance.

I read your whole comments above.

As I use a table, if i put the formula in R4, it will paste and adjust in the whole table, including R3.

So far it looks good. I didn't recall <1 in the formula. Smart and simple.

Let me sit on this and will get back.

My next task is for the DIFFERENT CELLS, pulling out the dates in column J in a new column (S).

Thanks. I will mark as solution.

    Enjoy weekend and big thanks!
