    Hi Qing,

Sorry for the inconvenience it may have caused. To troubleshoot the issue you encountered, there’re some suggestions you may try:

    1. Update Office to the latest version. With Office updated, some issues would get resolved. So it’s a good idea to keep Office up to date.
    2. Check ActiveX Settings.

Sometimes it happens that the ActiveX settings in Office Application are disabled and for that reason, it shows you excel solver add-in not working. To make it work then follow the below-given steps to check ActiveX settings:

    1. Open Excel, File > Options > Trust Center, click on Trust Center button.
    2. Click on the ActiveX settings. Now see If Disable all controls without notificationare Ticked. Then choose “Prompt me” option > Click on OK.

If the issue persists, we would like to collect some information to further check it:

    1. Which version of Office do you have? After starting Excel, click on File > Account, please take a screenshot of the Product Information part and share it with us.
    2. Does the issue occur on all workbooks? Or just some certain ones?

    Best regards,

    Madoc

    Hi Qing,

Thanks for your response and the information. Based on the screenshot, your Office is already updated to the latest version.

In this regard, there’re still some steps may make sense:

    1. Change the registry value from your PC.

Open Registry Editor and navigate to “\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins” or "\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins". Here is how this registry key looks like after installing MyExcelAddin:

The registry string we are interested in the most is the LoadBehavior. Whenever you see "3" (Loaded at Startup) as the value of this string you are good in this part and your add-in tries to load when the Excel starts.

    1. Use the SaRA tool to uninstall Office from your PC completely as some preferences and personal settings will be retained if uninstalling Office from the Control Panel directly. Then re-install Office from Office.com.
    2. Create a new Windows user profile.

Some issues might be caused by the corrupt user profile. You can refer to Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10 to create a new one and test from that profile.

    1. Perform a clean boot in Windows then check whether the Solver add-in works correctly in case the issue related to some third-party programs.

Recently, some users encountered some unknown issues when using Office after updating Windows to a specific version. To determine whether the problem you are experiencing may be related to it, we would like you to press Winkey + R and enter winver in the input box, then share a screenshot of the pop-up with us.

Thanks for your time and patience.

    Best regards,

    Madoc
