My ability to view my column index number display has gone away (it should be like on picture) and now when I write a vlookup formula I have to manually count how many columns away I've gone from the matching item to the column containing my answer.

    Hello Artur

I am V. Arya, Independent Advisor, to work with you on this issue. As a workaround, select a range not complete columns and see the number of columns selected in Name box. Then later on in your formulas, you can convert those to full column references.

Now coming back to you issue - There is a possibility that an Add-in is creating problems. To test this hypothesis, start Excel in safe mode (How to - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/open-o... )

If you don't face the issue, then one of the add-ins will be the culprit. Now you can start application normally and you can disable all of them (File -- Options -- Add-ins) and enable them one by one and check to catch the culprit add-in.

If above doesn't solve your issue, let me know your Excel version and build (File - Account - Next to About Excel, this information is there)

    Hello V. Arya

I ran Excel in safe mode and it helped - now I see the column index number, while I highlighted them.

But I don't have active Add-in's, all of them are disabled

Perform an online repair like this.

Press Windows key, hold it and press r to open Run window.

    Type appwiz.cpl and press enter

This will open Uninstall or change a program window

Click Office in the list of program

    Click Change at top

    Select Online repair

Restart your computer once Online repair is finished.

    Let me know the outcome.

I will recommend an uninstall and reinstall of Office suite - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/downlo...
