Duplication link not working

Hi I am having issues with duplicating a form on Microsoft Forms.

When I click on the "Duplicate It" button, it just redirects me back to the Forms home page, without actually duplicating the form. I have tried using different browsers and incognito mode to carry out the same action but it did not work as well. I'm wondering if there is any way to overcome this issue?

I tried to work around this issue by inviting others to collaborate but I did not have the option to generate such a link.

Thanks in advance! Really appreciated it!

    Hi muahchee,

I apologize for all the trouble it has caused and sorry about your time.

As per your description, may I know double confirm with us are you trying to create a Microsoft form duplicate link? If yes, you can to copy a survey/quiz form via Go to forms.office.com and sign in with your Microsoft 365 work or school account and on the form you want to copy, select three dots “... “ More options in the upper right corner of the form tile then Select Copyto see the result. ****

Open the problematic form> Share> Anyone with the link can duplicate> Copy> Paste the copied link in new tab> Duplicate it> Share to check the outcome.

Meanwhile, could you please confirm does issue happen to only specific form and also please confirm how did you create a form it will help for us to narrow down your issue.

At last, can we know whether you are using the Microsoft Forms with Personal Account or Work/school account?

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards

Hi! Really sorry for the late reply.

Yes, I am trying to create a duplication link so that other users will be able to duplicate the form and use it as their own. I was able to generate the link, but I was unable to duplicate a copy of the form through the link itself.

I think the issue is not limited to the one specific form only. I tried to duplicate another form through the duplication link and it did not work as well. As for the form, I created it by creating a new form and then manually inputting all the questions, descriptions and options.

I am using a personal Microsoft Account and the other users who need to duplicate this form will be using personal Microsoft Accounts as well.

Really hope that this issue can be resolved soon and I hope that I have provided the correct information to your questions HAHA. Do let me know if it is not what you meant. Thank you for the help thus far!

    Hi muahchee,

Thanks for sharing updates with us. First please accept my apologize for late reply due to out of work.

As per your description, since you are using personal account to use Microsoft form. As we are under Office 365 business category and I tested from my side using personal account to create a duplicated Microsoft form link and it work fine.  Could you please create a new Microsoft form and then try to create Microsoft form duplicate link and see the difference, it will help for us to narrow down your issue.

Also, please use another Microsoft account and change another browser to see the result it will help for us that issue related with affected Microsoft account.

Meanwhile, could you please confirm does other users meet same behavior as you encounter.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards

Hi, I've tried what you mentioned and but the link still doesn't work for me. I created a new form and generated the duplication link. I tried to duplicate the form using both of my personal Microsoft Accounts on both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge but there was no difference.

My supervisor is having this problem as well, though previously (last year around this time period) she was able to duplicate forms through the duplication links. The same links, however, are not working for her now.

If this problem cannot be resolved soon, are there any workarounds you can suggest? We need to allow other colleagues using personal Microsoft accounts to be able to have a copy of the form and use it as their own, meaning that they receive the responses, instead of the original form owner.

Thank you!! Really appreciate your help!

    Hi muahchee,

We appreciate that you spent your precious time doing those tests and shared the test results with us. I do understand the inconvenience it has made and apologize for it. And we’re still glad to help you.

We understand when you create duplicate link and click "duplicate it" button, it just refreshes the home page without (copy) template created.

I test a lot from my side and based on my test, this behavior will happen only when the user is using the same user profile to open the link.  For example, the template owner is user1, and user 1 click to open the link, it will only refresh the home page. but if use private browser window to sign in another Microsoft account, the link will open then ask to sign in account, then the link will work as expected.

So, I suggest you after creating a duplicated link use InPrivate browser window to open the form.

I appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Best Regards

    Waqas Muhammad
