Office 365 - Excel Power Query Not working properly (display issue)

Hi I'm encountering a display (navigation) issue re: Office 365 excel power query. I have the latest version of office 365 yet whenever I open "queries and connections" and "power query editor", texts are not displayed properly and the navigation panes are not shown. (see screenshot below).

This all happened after the March Windows update. (Perhaps the issue is something about the display driver which I'm not knowledgeable of)

Appreciate anyone who will be able to fix this issue. Thanks!

    Hi Lou de Guzman,

Sorry for the inconvenience the problem caused for you.

Based on your description, texts are not displayed properly when you use Power Query. I tested it on my side, however, there was no problem on my side.

Here are some suggestions, and I hope they could help you:

    1. You can try Office safe mode to determine if the third party add-ins affect the office program
    2. Try to fix Office client, by performing a repair. Try a quick repair first, and if that doesn't work, try the online repair.

If the problem persists, could you please provide some information for me?

    1. A screenshot of your Excel Product Information(open Excel >File>Account>capture a full screenshot of the Product Information column)
    2. What's your windows version?

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

    Hi Jazlyn,

I tried your suggestions as well as uninstall and reinstall office 365 but the problem still persists.

Here's a screenshot of my excel product information.

    Also, I'm using windows 10.

    Hi Lou de Guzman,

    Thank you for the update.

May I know that whether the problem happened on all the Excel files? If you create a new file with Power Query, will the same problem happen?

If it happens on all the files, then you could try the following methods to see the result:

    1. You can perform a clean boot in Windows to determine whether a background program is interfering with Office program.
    2. you can try to switch to a new Windows User Profile. This method can rule out the possible reason of your current Windows User Account.

    Best regards,

    Jazlyn

    Hi Jazlyn,

I tried performing a clean boot but my problem is still not resolved. What I did instead is to uninstall office 365 (64 bit) again and install the 32-bit version of office 365 to check if this is the root cause of the problem.

But then.... even if I install the 32-bit version, the problem still persists and opening excel takes quite some time unlike with other office apps (e.g., MS word). On another note, my current workaround to be able to use power query is to open excel in safe mode (numerous times until the queries and connections pane visual display becomes proper).

I do hope to find a permanent fix to my problem/issue though.

    Thanks!
