Microsoft Office File Validation Add-in

I am being asked to update this file. From what i read on it , it a security file, but it has a lot of issues. Don't need more complication in life.
Has it been fixed, the file updated itself or is it still a complication for many?

    Support for Office 2007 went out the window ages ago.

    Is the issue with the Add-in, or with a file in respect of which the Add-in detected a number of issues?

    What file?

    Where did it come from?

    If it is not a file you recognize, that came to you in an email. From someone you don't know, it is malware.

    This add on is coming in a Microsoft update. And that was my understanding that they no longer support it. So it weird that they sending some kind of add in for it. And what i read about it, it has more issue then benefits.

    Coming thru Window 10 update notification. Asking me to install. So from Microsoft. So i asked the question if they ever fixed the reported problems that are with this add in.

    Microsoft Office File Validation is a security add-in for Office 2003 and 2007. Office File Validation is used to validate that Binary File Format files conform to the Microsoft Office File Format. The user will be notified of possible security risks if files fail to conform to the format.

    What version of Office are you using? Are you using Binary File Format files - *.doc rather than *.docx?
