    Hi James

I'm Anna and I'd be happy to help you with your question. In this Forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

Sorry for the trouble this might have caused. I understand Excel doesn't allow for the Y-axis label text to be aligned other than the center. Since that tends to look really awful, I wanted to offer a workaround that may help some by manipulating the chart in Word or PowerPoint, where many of these charts end up, and where visuals matter.

Please see the link below on how to go about this

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/right-or-left-align-text-on-y-axis-of-an-excel/6e1a52e8-a9ab-4f63-a70d-d78b178c190f#:~:text=Select%20the%20arrow%20at%20the,from%20the%20drop%2Ddown%20menu.

I hope this helps ;-), let me know if this is contrary to what you need, I would still be helpful to answer more of your questions.

    Best Regards,

    Anna

That worked to right-align the text, but instead of wrapping the lines, it puts in ellipses. How do I word wrap or insert line breaks manually so they show up in Word??

Or is there a way to fix the justification in Excel itself?

Sorry, for now, you cannot do this on Excel itself. I stand to be corrected though. However, You can add a line break

At the end of the sentence, press the Tab key and then insert the manual line break in Word by using the key combination [Enter] + [Shift]. This will avoid Word from stretching out the sentence.

The Excel chart text is not editable in Word so far as I can tell.

    Thanks,

    Jim

unfortunately, Jim. Axis labels on a horizontal bar chart cannot be right-aligned. I have been making research so that I can help you achieve this.

Please the link below to check if it works for you
