Excel web app return error after hitting find next / find all.

Hello,

What does this type of error mean (photo below)? And how do I resolve it? I don't have much technical background in codes and the likes. But this error appears after I hit "Find Next" / "Find All" in an attempt to search for a specific data around the sheet. Also, it only appears when the data I search is surely on the sheet. But if not on the sheet, it will return the usual "could not find...". It's getting more frequent this week. Hope it does not worsen. Btw, I'm using the web app because sometimes we collaborate as a team and editing via desktop app is not our best option.

P.S. sometimes the error goes away on its own after a few mins of not using the sheet although left open.. But it does not give the confidence that the sheet I'm working on is already okay and working.

Hope to get some answers / advice.

Thanks,

Fam

    Hi,

Excel Desktop is working fine but with our current license and simultaneous work, it's best for us to work via web app..

And yes, our current sheet contains lots of formula for automated functions..

Sorry, here's an editable sheet for testing INTERFUSE - Nick J. Tracker 2022 - for testing only.xlsx

I'll try the size reduction and see if it does not affect the current functionality we have on the worksheet..

    Thanks and regards,

    Fam

    Hi

Thank you fro your combacking back.

We received your file and we did a test on our end . When we hit Find next or find all , the workbook run well and no crush as teh screenshot below:

Since the Excel for web not have so many running memory like Excel application, and your file includes so many formulas and power query, which will increase the size of documents virtually. As a result, this will cause the file can't run well.

So we suggest you can compress the file and then to chekc th result. Here is a compressed version we did , you can check in your end to see the behavior. INTERFUSE - Nick J. Tracker 2022 - for testing only.xlsx

Hope the suggestion can help you. If there have any unclear, please feel free tom post back.

We're always in here all the time!

    Best regards,

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

Thanks for the feedback. I just want to know how did you compress the file? I downloaded it to check the size, it's still at 5.3mb in an xlsx format. Maybe I missed something on how or where to actually check the file details on the web app.

    Thanks,

    Fam

    Hi

Thank you for your quick reply and sorry for sending the wrong compressed file to you.

I send the compressed file again by the private message, hope it can help you. The compressed file size is about 1.9MB.

If the file still can’t run well when you use the Find function, we kindly suggest you divide the file into different several workbooks to reduce the file size to see if the problem can be solved.

Really appreciate your patience and understanding. If there have any unclear, please feel free to post back.

    Best regards,

    Stacey

    Hi Stacey,

Thanks for the update. Unfortunately, the workbook you sent cannot be opened as I uploaded it on Sharepoint.

I uploaded it in two ways, but to no avail.

    1. open the zip folder then drag and drop the excel file to upload
    2. open the zip folder, extract the excel file to new folder then drag and drop the excel file to upload

I guess, we have to revise our trackers to accommodate the limitations and solve the problem..

    Thanks,

    Fam
