Hello all,

I have some users that use macros on their excel documents that are saved on one of our internal file servers. I have added the network location to the trusted locations however when the user opens the file it says "Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of this file is untrusted. I have tried adding the parent folder and selecting the apply to subfolders check box and the exact folder location but no matter what it will not allow the user to run the macros properly.

Note: This was working for the user prior to getting a new windows 11 PC but the version of office 365 was the same from computer to computer.

We are using a home version of Office 365 because this is a small office and the family plan made more financial sense the going the business route.

New HP computer with plenty of resources running windows 11.

Please help any suggestions are welcome I am at a wall with my google searches and prior knowledge of office.

    Hello Jaxon_BeckOilCo,

I’m Gunasekar and I will be happy to help you with your question, I am a Microsoft consumer like you.

This issue occurs when the Office app is not recognizing or syncing your trusted locations.

    Did you try this already?

    1. Open Microsoft word or Excel.
    2. Select the file and click Options
    3. Select Trust Center.
    4. Click Trust Center Settings and Select Trusted Locations.
    5. Select Add a new location.
    6. Add the domain.
    7. Make sure you check "Subfolders of this location are also trusted"
    8. Click OK to save.

    Restart the Office apps.

If the issue persists, you could follow the guidelines mentioned in the below discussion thread and check if it helps.

By adding the domain do you mean adding a line like mydomain.local as a trusted site?

I looked at each of the links you provided and I have done the steps in these. I have the location in the \fileserver\networkdestination format rather then \192.168.1.1\networklocation

This is what I have set currently. I blacked out the names but you can see they are in the domain name format not IP address
