Hello all,

I have some users that use macros on their excel documents that are saved on one of our internal file servers. I have added the network location to the trusted locations however when the user opens the file it says "Microsoft has blocked macros from running because the source of this file is untrusted. I have tried adding the parent folder and selecting the apply to subfolders check box and the exact folder location but no matter what it will not allow the user to run the macros properly.

Note: This was working for the user prior to getting a new windows 11 PC but the version of office 365 was the same from computer to computer.

We are using a home version of Office 365 because this is a small office and the family plan made more financial sense the going the business route.

New HP computer with plenty of resources running windows 11.

Please help any suggestions are welcome I am at a wall with my google searches and prior knowledge of office.

My organization was experiencing an issue with Excel not running Macros from Trusted network locations.

Previously the macros would execute but an Office update broke it.

After investigation we found that Excel previously would check the absolute location of the file.

But after the office update it was now looking at the relative location of the file.

We had mapped network drives, and adding the local drive letter to the trust center trusted locations fixed it.

    Example:
Previously we had \contoso.org\foldername in Trusted locations

\contoso.org\foldername is mapped locally on workstations as T:\

Users would open excel files from their T drive and macros would run.

After the Office Update to Version 2306 Build 16.0.16529.20226 Macros would no longer run and would give an error that they were blocked by policy.

We then added T:\ to the Trusted Locations and macros once again worked.

    Hi Alex,

This is exactly us. Can I ask how you managed to change the name from the \ to the T:\ - I have tried, I select the share drive, it says S:\ but when i go to the trusted location scree, it still keeps giving me the full mapped drive address?

I thought it was fixed with us moving to the cloud, but just today, issues with macros, I had to enable all macros on a users pc just to get it to work!

    Many thanks

    Roni

Go to the internet options con the control panel and on internet options, there you should put your share folder as a trusted site.
