Microsoft Loop task list is not syncing with Microsoft Planner

After opening Microsoft Planner from a task list on a Loop page, the plan appears to connect properly to Microsoft Planner. However, after making changes between the two, the plan eventually stops syncing changes correctly. Both buckets were created first in Microsoft Loop (as per the instructions from Microsoft), but the after making changes back and forth between Planner and Loop, the two are no longer in sync with one another.

Task list in Loop:

Task list in planner:

As you can see, the item Task 2 List Bucket 2 has an assignee in Planner but this has not synced over to Loop. Additionally, I've moved the item Task 1 List 1 Bucket 1 from bucket 1 to bucket 2, and then back to bucket 1, but this is not reflected in Loop either. It's been over an hour since the changes and it doesn't appear to have corrected itself.

Is there a way to force the sync between the two that I'm not seeing? Or is this just a bug that hasn't been squashed?

It's a shame because I was looking forward to using Loop for coordinating some project work, but if users try to make use of the synchronization between Loop and Planner they will be quite upset and I don't want to deal with it.

    Dear Jonathan_483

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with syncing between Microsoft Loop and Microsoft Planner.

Given this situation, to help you better, we would like to collect more information with you so thayt wwe can clarify your situation.

    1. May I know does only the specific plan have this behavior? Please try to do a test with other plan in Loop to see the outcome.
    2. Do you see a Loop Component if you look in Planner?
    3. Are you creating a Task List or using some the progress trackers. Seems only the Task List will sync to Planner and To Do.

We're looking forward to your reply, Appreciate your patience and understanding.

    Regards,

    Stacey

    1. I've tried creating and recreating plans and eventually end up with the same result where the Planner plan and the Loop task list are out of sync
    2. Planner appears to be showing that the plan is linked to Loop

    1. I'm not sure I understand your last question. For clarification, I first created the task list in Loop, and then opened the task list in Planner via the link in Loop. This is the method which is documented here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/manage-your-tasks-from-loop-task-lists-and-collaborative-notes-in-planner-and-to-do-94383070-5f2f-4954-8607-7b7ebff5d43e

Interestingly enough, after sitting overnight now the task lists have duplicated items that I was moving between the two lists to test the syncing.

    Task List view in Loop:

Task list view for the plan in Planner:

The item Task 1 List 1 Bucket 1, which I had moved to Bucket 2 and then back to Bucket 1, is now duplicated across both task lists (buckets) in Loop. Note the assignee on the item Task 2 List 1 Bucket 2 is still not showing correctly in Loop.

I can confirm that I performed similar tests today and found exactly the same issues described by Jonathan. This is definitely a bug that needs addressing. I really want to love this tool, but so far, not. I see a lot of potential - please fix it.

I would like to add that a task list loop component does not reliably sync with Tasks/Planner Hub/To Do either.

Sometimes tasks that are added in the loop component do not show up in "Assigned to me". Sometimes you need to delete and add the "Assigned to" field to make it work. Sometimes a task is shown to belong to the wrong plan. Sometimes the links to the loop components in Planner Hub lead to a non-existing page. Sometimes the whole loop component does not show up in the Planner Hub.

The sync engine is seriously flawed.

I had setup a fantastic personal task management system with Loop/Planner/ToDo, but it seems I have to bin it for now. I cannot afford to miss out tasks because they get lost.
