    Hello,

I’m Adeyemi and I’d be happy to help you with your question. In this forum, we are Microsoft consumers just like yourself.

If you want to disable the message about updating links when opening the file, you can do the following in Excel 2003:

Open the Excel file and go to the Edit menu. Click on Links to open the Edit Links dialog box. In the Edit Links dialog box, click on the Startup Prompt button. In the Startup Prompt dialog box, select the option to Don’t display the alert and don’t update automatic links, then click OK. This will prevent Excel from displaying the message about updating links when you open the file. However, it also means that the links to external data sources will not be updated automatically, so you may not see the most recent data from those sources.

I already did, but I still receive message about updating link when opening a file.

Do you have any suggestions on what else I can check and do?

Thank you very much for any suggestions :)

If you have already tried disabling the message about updating links when opening an Excel file, but you are still receiving the message, there are a few other things you can try:

    1. Check if there are any other links in the file that may be causing the message to appear. To do this, go to the Data tab in the ribbon, click on Edit Links, and look for any links that may be listed in the Edit Links dialog box. If you find any links that you do not want to update, you can try breaking or removing them.
    2. Check if there are any hidden worksheets or objects in the file that may contain links. To do this, right-click on any worksheet tab and select Unhide to see if there are any hidden worksheets. You can also go to the Home tab in the ribbon, click on Find & Select, and then choose Selection Pane to see if there are any hidden objects in the file.
    3. If you are using a macro-enabled workbook, check if there are any macros that may be causing the message to appear. To do this, go to the Developer tab in the ribbon, click on Macros, and look for any macros that may be listed in the Macro dialog box. If you find any macros that may be causing the issue, you can try editing or disabling them.

    1. There are any other links in the file that may be causing the message to appear.

I find any links that I do want to update.

    1. There are no any hidden worksheets or objects in the file
I create a sample file with a link to another Excel file, once I open this sample file, I can still see the message.
    2. Sample does not contain any macro coding.

    Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you very much for any suggestions (^v^)

I am sorry for the inconvenience, unfortunately, I don't have any further troubleshooting to offer.

There are many knowledgeable users active on the forum and I hope that someone else can offer further insight on your issue.

    Thanks,

    Adeyemi
