I have one folder shared on my OneDrive with my team, inside the folder I have word file and excel file. There's no issue on the word while when it open by some user at the same time, every user can change the content and other user can see the changing.

The issue happen on excel file (been around few months) and no idea why?

If I open excel file, then other user open the same file, it's been read-only access. I've search many times online for the solution but no clue yet.

Here the pop up when user try to edit on read-only access:

    Hi Tri E,

Thanks for contacting us and sorry for the inconveniences,

One possible solution is to check the file settings and make sure that the file is not marked as read-only or protected. You can do this by following these steps:

    • Right-click on the Excel file and select Properties.
    • In the Properties dialog box, under the General tab, uncheck the Read-only option if it is checked.
    • Click OK to apply the changes.
    • Open the Excel file and click on the File menu, then click on Info.
    • Click on Protect Workbook and make sure that none of the options are selected, such as Encrypt with Password, Protect Current Sheet, or Always Open Read-Only.
    • If any of the options are selected, click on them and follow the instructions to remove the protection.
    • Save and close the Excel file.

Another possible solution is to change the OneDrive settings to enable co-authoring for Excel files. Co-authoring is a feature that allows multiple users to work on the same Excel file simultaneously and see each other's changes in real time. You can enable co-authoring for Excel files by following these steps:

    • Go to the OneDrive website and sign in with your account.
    • Click on the Settings icon (the gear-shaped icon) in the upper right corner of the page.
    • Click on OneDrive Settings from the drop-down menu.
    • In the OneDrive Settings dialog box, under the Office tab, check the Use Office applications to sync Office files that I open option if it is unchecked.
    • Click OK to save the changes.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards, Sola
