"windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mircosoft Office\root\Office16\WINWORD.EXE'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. " I have seen threads with this as a problem, but NO SOLUTION. I have rebooted, repaired (both options), reinstalled, updated, rebooted each time after. STILL nothing has allowed the app to open. Other EXE files open, but NOTHING from OFFICE.

The chains usually have some admin bemoning that the question was answered when the person gets back stating IT WAS not answered then it is locked. So Please re-read the question and rething what other options there are. It does not appear to be a EXE is associated or disassociated to its function, as other EXE files open.

    >>So Microsoft, the vendor, scammed me?<<

If this is a purchase via the Workplace Discount Program (previously called the Home Use Program), then it would be legitimate. You can reinstall from the Order History page at https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/workplace-discount-program/order-history if necessary. Office products obtained via the program are only valid for as long as you are with the employer that provided you with the license, though.

So if a person buys a program that is suppose to be permanent and they take a new job, the permanent program is suddenly not permanent? Even if the program stays with the same computer?
So are you saying Microsoft 'invalidates' programs if this happens?

Honestly that sounds evil and deceptive if so. And we tried reinstalling from the original installer.

Nothing says that software obtained through the Home Use Program is "permanent". If that's how you got it, the price was reduced because of the limitations you agreed to under that program.

When you installed the software, you must have checked a box that said you agreed with the license (a.k.a. the End User License Agreement or EULA) which spelled out the terms, including the one Stefan mentioned. Yeah, I know "nobody ever reads the EULA until it's too late," but it's still legally binding.

So rather then work the problem.... and clearly you do not have a answer to the problem. Never said not working at the location, the person I am helping. It was a rather random tangent excuse. My response was based off the fact that the program was purchased, not Office 365.

The problem is still here and having read multiple threads on the forum, its looking like no one has a answer to this.

Perhaps it's not an answer but I will give it a try, because it has helped some people I know:
