Excel online add-in keeps appearing after I deleted it

I have mistakenly added a "stock connector" add in to my excel file. Then I removed it from the Excel add in tab online and refreshed my add ins. Everytime I open the same file, I get this prompt to install the add-in I already removed. How do I stop this from happening?

BTW, if I start the same file on my excel desktop app from onedrive where it's saved, I get the same issue. If I close that prompt and reopen the file from the excel desktop app, I don't get the prompt. The prompt seem to appear again only after I open the file on the excel online version from Onedrive.

Screenshot of the prompt I get below.

In my case this issue arose only when opening a particular workbook. Every time I opened it an add-in (quickfs) tried to install itself. This worked for me: go to File → Info → Check for Issues → Inspect Document, make sure "Task Pane Add-ins" is selected and then click "Inspect", in the results window scroll down to "Task Pane Add-ins" and click "Remove All." Now save the workbook, close it, and re-open it.

    Hi MohamedM,

Thank you for reaching out. My name is Furkaan, a user just like you. I’d be happy to help you with your concerns. There are a couple of reasons why the stock connector add-in might keep appearing in your Excel Online file even after you removed it. Here's how to tackle it:

    Disable Automatic Add-in Loading (Recommended):

This method modifies Excel's behavior and doesn't involve the registry.

Open Excel Online (or your desktop app). Go to File > Options > Add-Ins. In the "Manage" dropdown, select COM Add-Ins and click Go. Uncheck the box next to "Stock Connector" (or similar name). Click OK. This prevents Excel from automatically loading the add-in whenever you open the file.

Clear OneDrive Cache (For Online Version):

There's a possibility that OneDrive might be caching information about the add-in. Clearing the cache might help:

Sign out of OneDrive. Close your browser. Delete temporary internet files (consult your browser's help for instructions). Sign back in to OneDrive.

Reinstall the Add-in and then Completely Remove (Desktop App Only):

This is a bit of a roundabout approach but can sometimes clear up lingering issues:

Follow steps 1 & 2 from method 2 (desktop app only). Check the box next to "Stock Connector" (or similar name). Click OK. Now, uncheck the box again and click OK, choosing "Remove from list" when prompted.

I hope I can find a satisfactory solution to your problem. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Best Regards, Furkaan

I'm experiencing the same problem; I'm using only Excel online and see it whenever I open the file or reload the page.

Following the step does not help because the Go to File > Options > Add-Ins option does not exist, maybe it got removed, I don't know. Has anyone managed to solve this?

    Files are still in cache.

Go to Options > Trustcenter > mark delete. Next time add-in should be out

Stock connector is not listed anywhere in the trust center, but keeps on popping up.
