Maybe, just maybe, Microsoft can fix the issue because they do care about their customers, or don't they?
Missing delete option to remove Workspaces in Loop
Hi,
I need to delete a few redundant workspaces in Loop but the delete option is missing on Microsoft Loop
They were originally created in my Teams channel as tab, which was then removed. They are no longer in my Teams channel, but remains as Workspaces on https://loop.cloud.microsoft/
I'm the owner of the Teams site, and these redundant workspaces are not found anywhere in the Teams SharePoint site neither.
Please assist with deleting these redundant Workspaces from my loop
Kind Regards,
Vincent

2025-07-01T22:28:06+00:00 Dear Vincent,
Thank you for your update. I understand this situation is quite challenging, and it's disappointing when common cleanup options aren't readily available for content you own.
From my research, it seems that Loop workspaces, especially those created as tabs in Teams channels, are stored as SharePoint Embedded containers within your organization's SharePoint tenant. This is why the direct "Delete" option is missing for you in the Loop interface.
The Solution Requires Administrator Intervention:
Only accounts with the SharePoint Embedded Administrator role (a specific administrative role, often distinct from a regular SharePoint Administrator) can delete these types of containers. Therefore, you will need to contact your organization's IT Administrator and explain the situation. They can access the SharePoint admin center and manage these containers.
Here are the steps your IT Admin would need to take:
- Go to the SharePoint admin center.
- Navigate to Containers > Active containers.
- Filter by Ownership type: Group (as Team-connected workspaces are typically group-owned).
- Locate the specific Loop workspace container(s) you wish to delete. They might be named similarly to your old Teams channels.
- Select the container and choose the Delete option.
- Deleted containers go to the SharePoint recycle bin for 93 days, from where they can also be permanently deleted by the admin if needed.
Alternatively, your IT Admin can use PowerShell commands:
Your IT Admin can also use PowerShell commands (specifically Remove-SPOContainer and Remove-SPODeletedContainer with the SharePoint Online PowerShell module) to delete these containers programmatically.
The screenshot you provided reinforcing the need for this administrative-level solution. I hope this explanation helps you get these redundant workspaces removed promptly!

2025-07-08T18:24:46+00:00 I found a solution that worked for me, hopefully it does for you too!
Unfortunately, an error on this site is preventing me from uploading screenshots. Go figure!
1) Navigate to your "loop.cloud.microsoft" page containing your redundant workspaces.
2) Locate the title of the workspace at the top of its page, not the sidebar. Here you can click the title with the little "v" (caron symbol)3) There should be a directory that appears similar to "[Name]'s OneDrive > Attachments > [Workspace Name].loop"
4) Click "Attachments". A new tab should open, containing all of your workspaces. From here, you can select them all & right-click, then delete. It may take a few minutes & refreshes for your loop pages to reflect this change. Hope that helps!

2025-07-11T09:35:53+00:00 Didn't work for me Brad.
When I click on the caron symbol I just see the page hirearchy going up to the workspace but not its location. If I create a loop component out of one page of that workspace I can see that it gets created to some sharepoint that I don't have access to.
https://[MyCompanysDomain].sharepoint.com/:fl:/r/contentstorage/CSP_[SomeGUID]/Document%20Library/LoopAppData/
So I can only assume my workspace is saved there cause I can't find the loop file on teh Sharepoint linked to my Teams channel...I also noticed that there is no way to rename those Workspaces created from Teams Channel or change their style.

2025-06-26T21:45:54+00:00 Dear Vincent,
Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.
I've attempted to replicate this scenario in my test environment, but I'm currently unable to reproduce the exact issue where the delete option is missing from a Loop workspace. This suggests there might be a specific client-side factor, like browser cache or cookies, interfering with the display.
To help me understand the specific context of your situation and investigate further, could you please try the following?
- Open Microsoft Loop in an InPrivate (or Incognito/Private) Browse window.
- Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N or ... (Settings and more) > "New InPrivate window"
Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N or ⋮ (Customize and control Google Chrome) > "New incognito window" - This will ensure that no cached data, cookies, or browser extensions are interfering with the Loop interface.
- Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N or ... (Settings and more) > "New InPrivate window"
- Navigate to the redundant Loop workspace in the InPrivate window and check if the delete option is now visible.
If the delete option is still missing even when using an InPrivate tab, please provide a screenshot of the Microsoft Loop interface where you are viewing one of these redundant workspaces and where the delete option is missing. This will give me crucial insight into what you are seeing.

Once I have this visual information, I can better assess why the delete option is not appearing and advise on the next steps to resolve this for you.
