Hi @TLC,
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
Regarding to your issue, I'll need a little more detail about what you're experiencing to help troubleshoot. Could you please respond to the specific questions listed below?
1/ What type of account are you using when logging on OneDrive?
- Work/School account (like ending with @yourcompanydomain.com)
- Personal Microsoft account (like @outlook.com, @hotmail.com)
2/ Have you ever received codes on this device before, or is this the first time (scanned a QR code)?
- Note: the app needs to be linked to the Microsoft 365 account using a QR code or manual setup. If this step wasn’t completed, the app won’t generate codes or if the Authenticator app is installed on another phone or tablet, the code or prompt may only appear there.
3/ Is the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on the same iPad you're using to sign in?
4/ Do you see your account listed in the Authenticator app?
In the meantime, if your account is work/school account, kindly follow the recommended steps below:
If you have a backup sign-in method configured. In case you previously set up alternative authentication methods (for example, SMS text message, phone call), please try signing in using one of those options:
When prompted, choose an alternative verification method you had set up previously (e.g., Text a code, Call my phone).
If you do not have access to any backup method, you need to reach out your IT administrator.
If your account is not an admin account or not only admin, please reach out to your IT department of your organization and request that they can revoke your current session and reset your authentication method.
Please have your administrator follow the steps shown in the following article: Manage authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multi-factor authentication - Microsoft Entra ID …
- They will sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as at least one Authentication Administrator.
- User > choose all user.
- Select the user you want to act on (your account) and select Authentication methods. then select Require re-register of multi-factor authentication.
- Require re-register MFA: This disables all previous authentication methods. You'll then be prompted to configure a new MFA authentication method the next time you try to sign in, so you can add a new authenticator app.
-
If your account is the only 1 admin account, you'll need to contact the Microsoft Data Protection team. In this situation, the Microsoft Data Protection team has tools and processes in place to verify identity and regain access to administrator accounts.
