How to send authenticator notifications to a new phone after transfer?

I recently switched over my phone to a new one. I need to sign into my university Microsoft account to access my timetable and Microsoft Teams along with other important things. The Microsoft Authenticator app sends notifications to my old phone, instead of my new one. I no longer have access to this old phone and have since done a factory reset on it. Could anyone help me to change settings so that these notifications are delivered to my new phone? This is quite an urgent issue as I need access to my university systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ruby :)

    Hi @Ruby Eyre-lewis

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble signing in to your Microsoft account due to the authenticator app.

In the Entra admin center, the administrator can set user accounts to require re-register of multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Please have your administrator in your institution to follow the steps:

1.Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as at least one Authentication Administrator.

2.User -> all user.  Select the user you want to act on, and select Authentication methods. then select Require re-register of multi-factor authentication.

3.Require re-register MFA:  This disables all previous authentication methods. You'll then be prompted to configure a new MFA authentication method the next time you try to sign in, so you can add a new authenticator app.   User's image
