Hello @Heather Peake ,
Thank you for posting your valuable question on Microsoft Q&A forum.
Could you let us know when this issue first occurred in your tenant? This information will help us determine whether it might be related to a recent Microsoft update or change.
In the meantime, here are a few steps you can try:
Enable Class Notebook in OneNote for Windows devices
- In your OneNote desktop app, Go to File > Options > General > Class Notebook > Enable Class Notebook.
- This will restore the Class Notebook tab in OneNote if it’s currently hidden.

Create a Class Notebook from existing content in Teams
In Microsoft Teams, every Class Team includes a Class Notebook by default. To reuse content:
- Go to your Class Team > Class Notebook tab.
- Select Set up a OneNote Class Notebook > From existing notebook content.
- Choose sections from your old notebook to copy into the new one.

If you’re still seeing the “Something went wrong, please retry” message, please try to Clear Teams Cache
On Windows:
- Navigate to your Taskbar and look for the Microsoft Teams icon. Right-click the icon and choose Quit. This will force the Teams app to quit.
- Next, copy and paste the following location into File Explorer: %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams, and delete the contents of the entire folder.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
On a Mac:
- Right-click the Teams icon in the taskbar and choose Quit.
- Next, delete the directory ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams.
- Restart Microsoft Teams by opening the application and logging back in.
On Mobile device (iOS/Android)
There’s no manual cache clearing option, but you can:
- Sign out and sign back in.
- Or uninstall and reinstall the app to reset the cache.
Note: Deleting the cache won't remove Microsoft Teams from your device, but will remove the web client cache, icons, thumbnails, local message history, your Teams display images, and any other Teams add-ons.
Contact Microsoft Technical Support Team
If the issue still persists, then it may need deeper troubleshoot from the Microsoft Technical Support Team, you can follow these steps to request a support ticket:
- Find your Microsoft 365 admin: If you don't know who the global admin is in your organization, you can find guidance here: How can I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support
- Submit a service request: The Global Administrator should create a support request with Microsoft to receive advanced technical assistance. For detailed instructions, see: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn
If you discover any solutions or have additional insights, please consider replying to this thread to help others in the community.
I sincerely apologize for redirecting you to the Microsoft Technical Support Team. While we strive to assist as much as possible here in the forum, our resources are limited when it comes to backend-level diagnostics and advanced troubleshooting. Some issues require deeper technical analysis and access to internal tools that only the official support team can provide.
If you need further assistance, feel free to reply. I'm here and happy to help!
