    Welcome john jones,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A forum. I am happy to assist you.

To make sure I guide you to the right fix quickly, please confirm the following:

    • Which web browser are you using to access Xfinity email?
    • Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far?

Regarding your case, I can see that QA Assist has already provided some helpful troubleshooting steps.  However, you could also look into the following options:

    Option 1: Block Site Permissions

    Google Chrome

    • Open Settings > Privacy and security > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects
    • Set it to Don’t allow sites to send pop-ups or use redirects
    • Under Not allowed, click Add and add: use pattern: [*.]xfinity.com (blocks subdomains too)

    Microsoft Edge

    • Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Site permissions > All permissions
    • Open Pop-ups and redirects and toggle Blocked (recommended) ON
    • Besides, Not allowed to send pop-ups or use redirects > select Add site > copy the URL and click Add

    Option 2: Contact Xfinity support

    • If the issue persists, it may be best to reach out to Xfinity Support for more specific guidance related to their email platform

Please understand that my initial reply may not always immediately resolve the issue. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

To stop a specific URL from automatically opening when you shut down your Xfinity email, you may need to check your browser settings or any extensions that might be causing this behavior. Here are a few steps you can try:

    1. Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, cached data can cause unwanted behavior. Clear your browser's cache to see if that resolves the issue.
    2. Check Startup Settings: Ensure that your browser is not set to open specific pages on startup. You can usually find this in the browser settings under "On startup" or similar options.
    3. Disable Extensions: If you have any browser extensions installed, try disabling them one by one to see if one of them is causing the URL to open automatically.
    4. Reset Browser Settings: If the issue persists, consider resetting your browser settings to default. This can often resolve issues caused by misconfigurations.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to consult Xfinity support for more specific guidance related to their email service.
