Currently having issues with my Input audio, (specifically the Bose Studio 3) the tiny mic on the wire to make it from wireless to wired headphones does not show up on my input devices. It happened suddenly and I have no memory of doing anything to upset it. Any help would be appreciated.

please also let me know if having a dedicated mic such as a USB or XLR type one would be better so I don’t have to deal which such issues in the future.

    Hi Kian,

I see it is a Realtek Audio. Nevertheless, try updating BIOS to ver 3002 and check if the issue resolves.

If your Bose Studio 3 microphone is not showing up as an input device, here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Check Connections: Ensure that the headphone jack is properly connected to the device. Sometimes, a loose connection can prevent the microphone from being recognized.
    2. Device Settings: Open the sound settings by right-clicking the speaker icon in the system tray and selecting "Sounds". Go to the "Recording" tab and check if the microphone is listed. If it’s not visible, right-click in the window and ensure that "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices" are checked.
    3. Driver Issues: Sometimes, audio drivers can become corrupted or outdated. You may want to try reinstalling the audio drivers. You can do this by going to Device Manager, finding your audio device, right-clicking, and selecting "Uninstall device". After that, restart your computer, and Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically.
    4. Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows is up to date, as updates can fix bugs that may affect device recognition.

Regarding your question about using a dedicated microphone like a USB or XLR type:

    • Dedicated Microphones: Using a dedicated microphone can often provide better audio quality and reliability compared to using a built-in or integrated microphone. USB microphones are generally plug-and-play and are less likely to encounter the same issues you might face with headphone mics. XLR microphones offer even higher quality but require an audio interface.

In summary, while troubleshooting your current setup, consider investing in a dedicated microphone for a more stable audio input experience in the future.
