Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Hello Bud Mitchell,
Thank you for reaching out in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
I understand the concern about being charged after canceling the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
When a Microsoft 365 subscription is canceled, the charge still appears if the payment was already processed before the cancellation completed. This is common when the subscription renews or bills on the same day the user cancels. In those cases, the amount is usually eligible for a refund once the cancellation is confirmed.
Please sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and check whether the Family subscription shows “Canceled – Refund pending” or “Refunded.” If no refund is shown, you can submit a refund request from the same page, and the billing support team will review it.
If needed, you can also contact Microsoft Support directly:
- Go to Contact - Microsoft and sign in to your account.
- In the search box, enter "Billing and Payment."
- Click "Get Help" and select "Contact Support".
- Select Microsoft 365 and Office as the products and services, and select Billing and Payment Updates as the category.
- Click "Confirm".
- You can choose to chat with a support specialist.
Note: The live chat support team is only available during certain business hours. So if the last window says you're unavailable, try opening it again the next day. If you prefer phone support, you can leave your phone number. That way, they'll be able to call you and help.
