Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
Dear @Simon,
Thank you for posting your question on the Microsoft Q&A forum.
You can change most of your organization's information, such as your billing account name, sales address, and registration number, in the billing account details in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Changing your company name/organization name involves two main areas: your billing account/sales address within the Microsoft 365 admin center.
(If you're a user, you'll need to ask your global administrator to perform these steps.)
Note: To perform the tasks in this article, you must be the owner of the billing account or the contributor to the billing account. For more information, see About administrator roles.
Change the company name (sales address) in your billing profile
The company name (sales address) linked to the billing and legal contract is handled differently depending on the type of contract. This address will include the company name (legal name).
Option 1: Update the Trade Name
To change your vendor address, select Update vendor in the Address details section. In the Edit Sales Address panel, you can update the following information about your organization: For more information: Change your organization's address, contact settings, and technical contacts in the Microsoft 365 a…
a. Do business as a name (optional). b. Address. You cannot change the country/region. c. Email address of the contact in your organization (optional). d. The phone number of the contact in your organization (optional). When you are done updating the information, select Save.
- If your billing account is managed under the Microsoft Online Services Agreement (MOSA) or Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA), you can update your "trade name" and other address details.
- Go to the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- In the navigation menu, go to Billing > Billing account.
- Select the appropriate billing account.
- On the billing account details page, in the Vendor section, select Update vendor or edit.
- Update your company name (optional fields) and other organization information, and then select Save.
Option 2: Change the company name (vendor name)
However, if you want to change your organization's name, you can't do so without the help of the Microsoft Billing support team. For more information, please visit: About Microsoft business billing accounts
If you need to change your vendor name, please contact Support to make the change. Changing the vendor's name requires a credit check. Fill out this form and provide Microsoft with one of the following documents when contacting support:
- Documents or registration letters issued by government agencies
- Printed local corporate registration information
Support can change the name and address if only the customer's name changes and the legal entity remain the same. The document you specify must clearly indicate that only the entity's name has been changed. If the outcome of a transaction changes, such as a sale of a business, a change of control, or a sale or "spin-off" of a customer affiliate, contact your Microsoft seller or Microsoft Support.
