I am trying to activate Windows on my PC using a valid product key, but the activation keeps failing.

The system shows the error:

0x803fa067 – Unable to activate Windows because a valid digital licence or product key cannot be found.

I already tried:

• Running the Activation Troubleshooter
• Signing in with my Microsoft account
• Entering the product key again

The troubleshooter message also says that hardware on this device may have changed recently.

However, I do have a valid product key and it was working before.

Could you please help me understand why Windows cannot activate and what steps I should follow to activate it correctly?

How did you obtain your license initially?

Did it come with the device preinstalled, or did you purchase it?

If you purchased it, did you purchase from Microsoft, or from third party?

Is it originally a Win7/8 key?

Just to make sure, there's no motherboard change involved here?

Also, is this a reinstall, or it was working, but then stopped working out of the blue ?
