Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this problem. I understand how important recovering your account is to you.

Microsoft always recommends that users have at least three verification methods. So, even if one method becomes disabled, you can prove your identity using another method.

When did you last successfully sign in to your Microsoft account? If you have not logged into your account for more than two years and it has been closed due to inactivity, you will not be able to use the Account Recovery Form to recover your account. Reference:

    Microsoft account activity policy

If you no longer have your number, you will have to replace it by selecting 'I don't have any of these' and follow the prompts.

Note - Microsoft takes account security very seriously, that's why Account Recovery is an automated process with no human influence. If you don't have the correct information, you may not be able to get through account verification using the Recovery Form.

Remember to use a familiar device from which you've frequently accessed your Microsoft account, as well as a familiar location. Microsoft will review your responses and respond within 24 hours. If you are verified, instructions on how to log back into your account will be sent to you, and if you are not verified, you will need to submit the Account Recovery form again. You can do this up to 2 times every 24 hours.

Recovery can only be done through the automated tools; support cannot manually send a confirmation email to the locked account or bypass security.

    Use these options instead:

    1. If the password is forgotten
      • Go to Recover your account and follow the reset flow: enter the email/phone/Skype you use to sign in, choose where to get a security code, verify, then set a new password.
      • If the username or password is “not recognized,” follow the guidance in My username and password have stopped working.
    2. If the password is known but security info (old phone) is lost
      • Start sign-in to the Microsoft account.
      • At the Verify your identity prompt, select I don't have any of these.
      • Follow the steps to replace the security info. After replacement, there is a 30‑day wait before normal sign-in is allowed. During those 30 days, existing security info (if found) can still be used, but using it cancels the update.
    3. If both password and all security info are unavailable
      • Use the Microsoft account recovery form:
        1. Read the guidance in Help with the Microsoft account recovery form.
        2. Go to the recovery form and submit as much accurate information as possible (previous passwords, contacts, subjects, etc.).
        3. Use a working email address that can receive messages; Microsoft will respond there, usually within 24 hours.

    Important limitations:

    • If two-step verification was turned on and none of the verification methods are accessible, support agents cannot reset the password, change account details, or send a special confirmation email.
    • If the account has been inactive for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened.
