EXCEL PROBLEM

Excel ran into an error and needs to close. I clicked on repair now button and the box disappeared.

Press Windows+R keys on the keyboard, or Right-click Start on the Taskbar and choose Run.

Type Excel.exe /safe

Press Enter.

Use an Online Repair of Office instead of the quick “Repair now” dialog, which often does not fix the underlying problem.

Follow these steps on Windows:

1. Close all Office apps (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
2. Open Settings.
3. Go to Apps → Installed apps (or Apps & features, depending on Windows version).
4. Find Microsoft 365 (or Office) in the list.
5. Select the entry → choose Modify.
6. Select Online Repair and confirm.
   • This will fully reinstall/repair Office components and can take 15–30 minutes.
   • Do not cancel the process.
7. Restart the PC after the repair completes.
8. Open Excel again and check if it runs without the error.

If the error persists even after a full Online Repair, the next escalation from similar cases is to completely uninstall Office, manually remove remaining Office folders and related registry keys, restart the PC, and then reinstall Office.
