Today i saw this message on my subscription page.

I have this subscription since 2023 and this have never appeared before. Every time this renews automatically, but how can i know if it will renews again? and i read that its based on your use, but i still using the same way since 2023 and if it doesnt renews, i will loose everything i have on onedrive? how can i transfer more than 5tb to other dev account?

Based on the official documentation, the Microsoft 365 E5 Developer subscription is valid for up to 90 days and is automatically renewed if you remain active in development. The renewal process is handled by Microsoft’s internal systems, which evaluate your development activity to determine eligibility. 

Please note that, as moderators, we do not have visibility into how this activity is evaluated, nor do I have the ability to confirm or manually trigger a renewal for a specific tenant.

If your tenant is showing an upcoming expiration message, we recommend backing up any important data as soon as possible in case the subscription is not renewed and access to the data may be lost over time.

For backing up your OneDrive data, you may consider the following approaches for reference:

-Share files or folders to another account, then open them from “Shared” and copy them into “My files” so they are stored in that account

-Or sync both accounts on the same computer using OneDrive, then copy the files directly between the two folders

The Microsoft 365 E5 Developer subscription is a time‑limited, renewable developer sandbox. It is:

• Good for up to 90 days at a time.
• Renewable based on qualified developer activity.
• Intended only for development and testing, and is short‑lived by design.

Because renewals depend on ongoing qualified developer activity and Microsoft may require tenants to be recreated every 90 days, there is no guarantee that the current trial will renew again. The message and explicit expiration date indicate that the current trial period is scheduled to end on 5/25/2026 unless renewed or converted to a paid subscription.

Developer tenants must not be used for long‑term data storage. Data and configurations should always be backed up outside the developer tenant. If the tenant is not renewed or is reclaimed, data in that tenant (including OneDrive content) should be considered temporary and at risk.

To avoid data loss:

1. Back up all important data from the developer tenant (for example, download OneDrive content to local storage or another non‑developer tenant).
2. Do not rely on the developer subscription for storing large, long‑term datasets.

If a different developer tenant is created later, data must be manually copied into that new tenant from the backups; there is no built‑in cross‑tenant migration mechanism described for developer subscriptions.
