I have purchased a 12 month office from Costco that should have come up with a 3 months bonus but upon applying the product code I only got 12 months. This is a new subscription, my previous subscription was expired last year.

Please pay heed to the instructions on the offer. I'll copy them for you here:

"If this is a new subscription and you provide a credit card prior to the end of your 12 months, you will receive an additional three (3) months."

That means you need to sign in to the Microsoft account that hosts your subscription and add a valid payment method to that Microsoft account. If you have not previously subscribed to Microsoft Office with that Microsoft account, you will receive an additional three months.

The Costco offer in the screenshot includes “Bonus up-to-3-months subscription” and notes that the extra 3 months are granted when starting a new subscription and providing a credit card before the end of the initial 12‑month term. The bonus time is a retailer promotion and is not automatically added just because the 12‑month product key was redeemed.

    To resolve this:

    1. Confirm that the Microsoft account used to redeem the key shows the correct subscription and expiration date by checking the Services & subscriptions page.
    2. Review the Costco offer terms (especially any requirement to add a payment method or enable recurring billing) and complete those steps if required; the bonus may be applied later rather than at initial redemption.
    3. If the expiration date still only shows 12 months after meeting the offer conditions, contact Microsoft Support and/or Costco customer support with proof of purchase and the promotion details so they can verify eligibility and adjust the subscription if applicable.
