Stuck on “You don’t currently qualify for a sandbox subscription” after joining Dev Program

Hello,

I created a new Microsoft account and successfully joined the Microsoft 365 Developer Program. Phone verification completed without issues. However, the dashboard has shown the message “You don’t currently qualify for a Microsoft 365 Developer Program sandbox subscription” for over 12 hours.

I cannot access the sandbox setup wizard, and the left navigation does not show the Sandbox option.

Could someone please review and manually approve my account?

(be advised, this text was generated by M365 chat. I DO NOT BELIEVE the level of difficulty to just get training access!)

Thank you.

Please note that, as a forum moderator, I do not have access to the internal systems required to manually review and approve your account. In addition, the qualification and renewal process for Microsoft 365 Developer Program tenants is fully automated and based on predefined algorithms.

    Hi Paul Holley

First, I want to clarify the purpose of Microsoft 365 Developer Program. This program includes a Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription that you can use to create your own sandbox and develop solutions independent of your production environment. You can build Microsoft Teams apps, Office Add-ins for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook, or SharePoint Add-ins, using Microsoft Graph, the SharePoint Framework, Power Apps, and more.

May I ask which training access are you referring to?

Regarding your question, I recommend reviewing the Microsoft 365 Developer Program FAQ, especially the following sections, for detailed eligibility information:

Based on the information in those sections, the E5 developer subscription is primarily available to:

    • Visual Studio Professional or Enterprise subscribers (automatic qualification)
    • Companies in ISV Success / Microsoft AI Cloud Partner Program eligible tiers
    • Organizations with Premier or Unified Support (via their Microsoft contacts)

If you’re joining purely as a new Microsoft account without those qualifiers, the sandbox subscription may not be granted to that account. If you need a tenant with training purpose, you may consider one of the following options:

    • Use an active Visual Studio subscription. With an active Visual Studio Professional or Enterprise subscription, you are typically eligible to create a Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription.
    • Alternatively, you can sign up for a trial Microsoft 365 plan that matches your development requirements (for example, Microsoft 365 Business Standard). If you choose a trial, please remember to cancel it before the trial period ends to avoid any unwanted charges (especially if you don’t plan to keep the subscription long term). Cancel your subscription in the Microsoft 365 admin center

I hope this information is helpful and clarifies the situation. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

“Still stuck. Dashboard continues to show ‘You don’t currently qualify’ after 24+ hours.”
