For Xbox-network–based games like Minecraft, “multiplayer disabled” is usually caused by the Xbox privacy/online safety settings on the Microsoft account being set to Block for multiplayer.
To enable multiplayer, adjust the Xbox privacy settings on the organizer (parent) account for the affected profile and allow time for them to propagate:
- Sign in to the organizer’s Microsoft/Xbox account in a browser and open the family/child safety settings.
- Go to the child’s profile and open the Privacy & online safety (or similar) section.
- Locate the setting You can join multiplayer games / Play games with others in Xbox multiplayer.
- Change this setting to Allow.
- Save the changes.
- Wait for the change to propagate (in some cases this can take up to ~24 hours), then restart the game and sign in again.
If the account is part of a Microsoft family as an adult but still blocked, ensure a family organizer reviews and sets the multiplayer-related options to Allow for that account as well.
Once the “You can join multiplayer games” setting is set to Allow and the change has propagated, the account should be able to join online multiplayer.
