Use the following checks and fixes, starting with the app where Copilot is failing.

    1. Confirm Copilot is actually available
    • If Copilot is missing, disabled, or not responding in Microsoft 365 apps, follow the steps in How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps to re‑enable it and then retry.
    • If the issue persists, ask the Microsoft 365 admin to confirm:
      • A valid Copilot license is assigned.
      • Copilot is not blocked by organizational policies.
    1. Refresh license and privacy settings (Microsoft 365 apps)
    • Refresh the license in the affected app, then fully close and reopen all Microsoft 365 apps so the refresh takes effect.
    • Check privacy settings and ensure:
      • “Experiences that analyze your content” is turned on.
      • “All connected experiences” is turned on.
    1. Check for known blocking conditions
    • Newly assigned licenses can take time to propagate; if the license was changed recently, allow time and then retry.
    • Make sure there are no account conflicts (for example, being signed in with both personal and work/school accounts in the same app or browser).
    • Verify network requirements for Microsoft 365 Copilot are met and that the device has a stable internet connection.
    • Ensure the device is not using device‑based licensing and that the update channel is supported (Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel, not Semi‑Annual Enterprise Channel).
    • Confirm Copilot is not blocked by privacy controls configured by the organization.
    1. If using Dynamics 365 or Power Platform copilots
    • For Dynamics 365 Sales or Field Service, verify that required connectors (such as Dataverse and Direct Line/HTTP) are not blocked by Data Loss Prevention policies and that they are grouped correctly in a DLP policy.
    • If using Copilot Studio agents and seeing generative‑AI‑related errors, ensure “Move data across regions” is enabled for the environment in Power Platform Admin Center, or disable generative AI features in the agent configuration.
    1. When the problem persists for a week
    • If all configuration, licensing, and network checks are correct and the error has continued for a week, the next step is to have the Microsoft 365 admin open a support case with Microsoft, as similar long‑running Copilot issues have required back‑end fixes by support.
