To receive a refund for a canceled Microsoft 365 (home) subscription, the subscription must first be canceled from the Microsoft account that purchased it, and then eligibility is determined automatically based on Microsoft’s refund rules and local regulations.
Follow these steps to verify cancellation and check refund eligibility:
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365 and sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy the subscription.
- Locate the Microsoft 365 subscription under Services & subscriptions and select Manage.
- If only Turn on recurring billing is shown instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and no further charges will occur.
- On the Manage page, confirm that the subscription status shows as canceled or set not to renew.
- If the subscription is still active, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the on‑screen steps to complete cancellation.
- After cancellation, any eligible refund is processed according to the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale and local rules. In some countries (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Turkey), canceling may entitle to a prorated refund depending on subscription length.
If the subscription was purchased through Google Play or the Apple App Store, the refund must be requested from their support pages instead of Microsoft.
If there are issues with the online process or questions about a specific charge, contact Microsoft Support via the Contact Microsoft Support flow described in the documentation and provide the account and transaction details so they can review refund eligibility.
