E5 Developer Program tenant expire

I use a Microsoft 365 E5 Developer Program sandbox to build and test solutions that rely on Microsoft Graph and Teams APIs.

My E5 developer subscription is now showing an expiration warning and doesn’t appear to be renewing automatically. What can I do to prevent it from expiring and ensure it remains active?

    Hi Diem Tran

The Microsoft 365 E5 Developer subscription is intended to automatically renew every 90 days, provided that Microsoft identifies continued developer activity within your tenant.

However, eligibility and renewal for Microsoft 365 Developer Program tenants are fully automated, relying on algorithms and telemetry derived from your usage within the program and your Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription. As a result, Developer Program eligibility cannot be reset manually.

If your subscription has expired and remained inactive, please note the following timeline as mentioned on Microsoft 365 Developer Program FAQ

    • First 30 days after expiration: You can migrate any data.
    • Next 30 days: Only the admin will have access to the subscription.
    • Day 60: The subscription and all associated data will be permanently deleted.

I highly recommend you backup your data immediately, you should download your important files to a local drive or migrate them to a different account before the due date.

Additionally, you can consider signing up again using a new account. For more detailed information about eligibility requirements, please refer to the following FAQ: Who qualifies for a Microsoft 365 E5 developer subscription

If you believe you are actively using the environment for development work, but the tenant is still failing to renew automatically, the next step is to contact Microsoft Developer Support for further assistance through Developer Program | Microsoft 365 Dev Center > Support. Please note that Services Hub is intended for paid support tickets and access is subject to certain conditions. You can find more details here Services Hub sign in FAQs | Microsoft Learn

I hope this clarifies your concerns. Please let me know how you get on, as your feedback is valuable to the community.
