I have a Microsoft 365 Family subscription that renews on 01/06/2026 . On Jan 6, 2025 I paid $112.95 for my $101.50 Subscription and now I see on June 1, 2026 I see a charge for $160.95. It says it is for Microsoft 365 Family but it shouldn't be due till Jan 6 of 2027, and it shouldn't be for $160 dollars.

Date Type Name Status Amount
01/06/2026, 6:41 p.m. Payment to Microsoft Canada Inc. Completed $160.95 CAD
01/06/2026, 6:41 p.m. Payment to Microsoft Canada Inc. Completed $160.95 CAD

    Hello,

This is a public forum, so for your privacy and security, we can’t help with billing issues here. Also, no one in this forum has access to your account or payment information.

To get help, open the "Get Help" app on your computer (just search for it in the Start menu). or go to https://support.microsoft.com/contactus, Type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact support" at the bottom of the page, then choose "Microsoft 365" > "Manage my subscription". You’ll then see the option to chat with a Microsoft support agent who has access to your account to help review the issue.

The charges shown can happen for a few common reasons, and there are specific steps to verify and fix them.

    1. Check for duplicate or catch‑up payments
      • Double payments can appear when a past charge could not be collected (for example, insufficient funds). Microsoft keeps retrying, so a late payment and the next on‑time renewal can appear close together and look like duplicates.
      • Sign in and review recent order history to see if there are multiple purchases for the same amount and product close together. If there are not more charges than expected in the last months, it may only look like a double charge on the bank/PayPal side.
      • If there are multiple accounts (for example, family members) using the same card or PayPal, another account’s subscription can also cause extra charges.
    2. Investigate the specific billing charge
      • Use the “Manage your payments” / payment options tools to identify which Microsoft account and which subscription each charge belongs to, and whether it is tied to Microsoft 365 Family or another subscription.
      • If the charge is not recognized or appears incorrect after checking order history, follow the “investigate a billing charge” guidance and then proceed to cancellation/refund steps as appropriate.
    3. Cancel or adjust any unwanted/duplicate subscription
      • Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the Microsoft 365 Family subscription.
      • Locate each Microsoft 365 subscription listed and select Manage.
      • If there is an extra or duplicate subscription (for example, a second Microsoft 365 Family), select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel) and follow the prompts.
    4. Request a refund where eligible
      • For Microsoft 365 subscriptions purchased from Microsoft, cancellation is required first to check refund eligibility.
      • After cancellation, follow the refund process for Microsoft 365. Note that not all cancellations result in a refund, and eligibility can depend on region and timing.
      • If the subscription was purchased through another store (for example, via Amazon or a mobile app store), contact that store’s support for cancellation and refund.
    5. Contact support if charges still look wrong or fraudulent
      • If, after checking order history and accounts, the $160.95 CAD charge (or the apparent duplicate of it) still appears incorrect, contact Microsoft support directly for billing investigation and dispute. Use the account billing/support paths and, if needed, the “Get Help” / callback option to speak with an agent.
      • If any charge is suspected to be fraudulent (for example, created by an unauthorized subscription or account compromise), support can help reverse fraudulent charges after confirming that payment options have been secured (for example, removing PayPal and changing the account password).

In summary, verify order history and accounts for duplicate or catch‑up payments, cancel any extra subscription, then use the Microsoft subscription refund process or contact support to dispute the $160.95 CAD charge and any duplicate.
