To switch Microsoft 365/Office and Windows to German, change the display language in Windows. Office follows the Windows display language in most home setups.

On Windows 11 (steps are similar on Windows 10):

1. Open Settings (Windows key + I).
2. Select Time & language.
3. Select Language & region.
4. Under Windows display language, choose Deutsch (Deutschland) (German). If German is not listed, add it first under Preferred languages, download the language pack, then set it as display language.
5. Sign out and sign back in so the change applies to Windows and Office apps.

If Office screens are currently in another language (for example Hebrew) and should be only in German, ensure:

1. Windows display language is set to German.
2. Region is set to a country that uses German (for example Germany), under Settings > Time & language > Language & region.

After this, restart Office apps; the UI should appear in German.
