If this is an Excel table, there are two easy ways to extend it with another column:

    1. Click anywhere in the table.
    2. Go to Table Design.
    3. Select Resize Table.
    4. Select the new range so it includes the extra column.
    5. Click OK.

Another option is to type a new heading in the column immediately to the right of the table. Excel can automatically extend the table to include that new column.

If the issue is that new adjacent cells are not being added into the table automatically, turn that option back on:

    1. Go to File > Options.
    2. Select Proofing.
    3. Click AutoCorrect Options...
    4. Open the AutoFormat As You Type tab.
    5. Select Include new rows and columns in table.
    6. Click OK, then OK.

If the table lines or borders do not look right after adding the column, resize the table range first so the new column is part of the table, then adjust the column width as needed.
