    Hi Kenneth Wakeen,

Based on the behavior you described, the issue appears to be limited to actions initiated in New Outlook, such as moving, deleting, or archiving messages, not always being reflected back in Gmail.

It's also worth noting that similar behavior has been reported by other users, where Gmail-to-Outlook synchronization continues to work while Outlook-to-Gmail updates become inconsistent. For further discussion, you can refer to this thread: New Outlook Suddenly not syncing gmail, specifically, not deleting or moving messages

Please continue to monitor the behavior and share any new findings, especially if the issue starts working again without configuration changes or if you notice differences between delete, move, and archive actions. Those details can help identify patterns and assist others experiencing similar synchronization behavior.

Thank you for taking the time to document your testing so thoroughly.

This pattern points to a one-way Gmail sync issue in New Outlook: Gmail changes are reaching Outlook, but actions taken in Outlook are not being written back to Gmail.

    Try these checks in order:

    1. In Gmail on the web, verify IMAP is enabled:
      • Go to Settings > See all settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP
      • Confirm Enable IMAP is selected
      • Save changes
    2. In Gmail, verify the folders/labels are exposed to IMAP:
      • Go to Settings > Labels
      • Make sure the affected labels, especially Inbox, Sent Mail, Trash, and All Mail, have Show in IMAP enabled
    3. Test whether the issue is specific to New Outlook:
      • Open the same Gmail account in another Outlook client or Outlook mobile if available
      • If sync works there, the problem is likely specific to New Outlook rather than the Gmail account itself
    4. Refresh the Gmail authorization used by Outlook:
      • Close New Outlook
      • In a browser, sign in to the Google account
      • Open Security > Your connections to third-party apps and services
      • Remove Microsoft apps and services
      • Reopen Outlook, remove the Gmail account, then add it again
      • When Google prompts for access, allow Microsoft access again
    5. After reconnecting, test these separately:
      • Delete a message in Outlook and check Gmail web
      • Move a message in Outlook and check Gmail web
      • Change read/unread status in Outlook and check Gmail web

    Important notes:

    • Draft sync can be misleading. Drafts created in Outlook may not sync back to Gmail, while drafts created in Gmail can sync to Outlook.
    • If Gmail is connected through IMAP, Outlook depends on Gmail IMAP and label settings for folder behavior.
    • If the problem continues after reauthorizing, use Gmail web for message moves/deletes as a temporary workaround while isolating whether the issue is account-specific or New Outlook-specific.
