Which version of Java is installed there?

IE Compatibilty Mode Win 11 and Java
I have a legacy website that uses java. On machines running windows 10 with Java installed, the site runs fine in IE compatibility mode. However, it will not run on a windows 11 machine in IE compatibility mode configured the same way. I've installed Java, and entered the website url into the trusted sites in the Java control panel.
Note, it is not java script - java script is turned on. This was supposed to be supported until sometime in 2028 according to what I've read. What am I missing?

2022-02-08T18:06:22.21+00:00 The version of Edge on both Win 10 and 11 is Version 98.0.1108.43 (Official build) (64-bit)
I do not see and information in Event viewer logs
I'm not sure how to see document mode as F12 developer tools does not work in IE mode. If you have exact instructions how to get this info if you think it helps, I'll be happy to perform the steps.
Is IE Mode supposed to work with Java applets in Windows 11 as it does in Windows 10?

2022-02-09T13:39:53.1+00:00 Ran the developer tools on the Windows 11 machine and see the following in the Console tab:
HTML1527: DOCTYPE expected. Consider adding a valid HTML5 doctype: "<!DOCTYPE html>".
Ran the developer tools on the Windows 10 machine and see the same message in the Console tab.
Also, when Navigating in the website on the W11 machine, I get the attached message - if I click more info, it takes me to the Java website to install Java - which I have already done.
