I have a HP Pavilion 15-bc014nl, with a Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60 Ghz Processor, and I can't believe that Windows 11 doesn't support it. I'm very disappointed.

    To be honest...it just doesn't make sense to me either...especially when you look at what IS required in a processor, the Intel Core i7-6700HQ meets the requirements so I don't know what gives. Unless there is something else I'm missing. I wish we could afford to buy new laptops but that's not our reality.

    CPU Specifications
    Total Cores = 4
    Total Threads = 8
    Max Turbo Frequency = 3.50 GHz
    Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 Frequency‡ = 3.50 GHz
    Processor Base Frequency = 2.60 GHz
    Cache = 6 MB Intel® Smart Cache
    Bus Speed = 8 GT/s
    TDP = 45 W
    Configurable TDP-down = 35 W

    Windows 11 can be installed in most computers in a supported or unsupported fashion.

    When installed in an unsupported fashion end users may not benefit from the improvements in performance, reliability, and security.

    End users must understand the risks and benefits before installed in an unsupported fashion.

    There are multiple websites that have reported the successful installation in desktops, laptops, and tablets in an unsupported fashion.

    After posting my last note, I decided to try the Intel forums to see if maybe they had an answer. Someone did post about and whether it's true or "official" I'm really not sure but, sadly, was surprised at it being an arbitrary decision.

    Thanks but I did read that posting earlier before adding my two cents. :-) I was just hoping to get the answer to an issue so many of us are now going to have to face when on the surface it looks like it meets all the criteria. I've been in as situation of installing something on my machine that wouldn't be supported and while that nightmare was with just a video driver, this is an entire operating system and don't have a warm and fuzzy about installing it only to have some kind of problem and Microsoft not being able to support it.

    The next question I would have then is if I we go ahead and install it on our unsupported machines, what about future updates that come through Windows Update and if there would be any.

    Again, thanks.
